Murrieta Valley sophomore Caitlin Billman won the girls varsity large school race at the Desert Twilight Festival, covering the 5-kilometer course in 19:18.8 at Grande Sports Complex in Casa Grande. Billman led the Nighthawks to the team title with a 44-68 victory over Smoky Hill (Colorado). Murrieta Valley's performance was even more impressive considering the Nighthawks placed fifth in their Southwestern League meet two days earlier at Temecula Valley High, with Billman finishing third in 18:24.2.
